Praslin, Anse Kerlan, Seychelles

Praslin is the second biggest island in the Inner Seychelles, located in the Somali Sea 44 kilometers northeast of Mahé. Praslin is home to around 7,533 inhabitants and is divided into two administrative districts: Baie Sainte Anne and Grand’ Anse. The principal communities are Baie Ste Anne, Anse Volbert, and Grand’ Anse. Praslin is a popular tourist destination, with a variety of hotels and resorts, as well as beaches such as Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette. It features extensive tropical vegetation with species including the indigenous Seychelles bulbul and the Seychelles black parrot. The Vallée de Mai Nature Preserve, which opened in 1979, is famous for its rare coco de mer and vanilla orchids. According to reports, Khartoum General Charles George Gordon was convinced that Vallée de Mai was the Biblical “Garden of Eden.”
