Réunion, France
Réunion is a French overseas territory in the Indian Ocean. It is located approximately 950 kilometers east of Madagascar and 175 kilometers southwest of Mauritius. As of January 2022, it had a population of 868,846 people. Réunion, like the other four overseas departments, enjoys French region status and is an important element of the French Republic. Réunion is a eurozone member and the most distant territory of the European Union. Réunion and Mayotte, another French overseas department, are the only eurozone territory in the Southern Hemisphere. Réunion, like the rest of France, has French as its official language. Furthermore, Réunion Creole is spoken by the vast majority of the inhabitants.
