Mahé, Seychelles
Mahé is Seychelles’ largest island, located in the Somali Sea in the Indian Ocean to the northeast of the country. Mahé has a population of 77,000 people according to the 2010 census. It encompasses the capital city of Victoria and is home to 86% of the country’s total population. The Morne Seychellois National Park is home to Mahé’s tallest mountain, Morne Seychellois, which rises to a height of 905 meters. The northern and eastern regions of the island are home to the majority of the island’s inhabitants, as well as the Seychelles International Airport. Baie Ternay Marine National Park, Port Launay Marine National Park, and the University of Seychelles are located in the southern and western regions of the island. Offshore are the Sainte Anne Marine National Park, Conception Island, Thérèse Island, Anonyme Island, and other smaller islands.
